Francesca Bonfante (Milan 1957) holds a degree in Architecture at Politecnico di Milano (1984) and a PhD in Architectural Composition from IUAV, Venice (1991).

 

Since 1998 she has been associate professor and since 2018 she is full professor in Architectural and Urban Composition at Politecnico di Milano, where she teaches Architectural Composition and Design and carries out research work (until 2012 at the Department of Architectural Design and since 2013 at the Department of Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering).

 

Since 1998 she has taken on institutional roles at the Politecnico di Milano: 2019/ongoing Member of the Board of the multi-disciplinary PhD Course of the Department of Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering; 2016/2019 Member of the Council of the School of Architecture Urban Planning Construction Engineering (AUIC); 2014/2015 Co-Coordinator of the Inter-School Bachelor of Science in Architectural Design, School of Civil Architecture-School of Architecture and Society; 2012/2017 Coordinator of the Master’s Degree in Architecture-Architectural Design, School of Civil Architecture (until 2015), School of Architecture Urban Planning Construction Engineering; 2018/2019 Coordinator of the Master’s Degree in Architecture and Urban Design, School of Architecture Urban Planning Construction Engineering; 2006/2015 Member of the Council of the School of Civil Architecture; 2004/2008 Member of the “Exhibitions, conferences and seminars” Committee of the Department of Architectural Design; 2002/2006 Member of the Teaching Coordinating Body (O.C.D.); 2002/2003 Member of the Council of the Department of Architectural Design; 1998/2011 Coordinator of the guidance activities at the Faculty of Civil Architecture.

 

She has been involved in several national and international research projects, focussing on the relationship between architectural design, city and landscape. Her research interests are focused on architecture for the exchange and industrial city, architecture of the public building, and on architecture for sport and leisure. She is the author and editor of several publications, including: Teatralità e figurazione per la città. Scritti sul progetto e l’insegnamento dell’architettura, Il Poligrafo 2015; F. Acuto, F.
