CANactions International Architecture Festival is one of the biggest annual architecture gatherings in Europe, running since 2008. Talks, exhibitions, discussions, urban walks, and masterclasses take place right across Kyiv on 18—19 September 2020. We welcome everyone to join the common dialogue around architecture and innovative approaches for creating more liveable places.
The city, as a complex system, is shaped through diverse factors and disciplines, where mediation is a challenge. Developed cities thrive by meeting the needs of their citizens. People’s basic needs have not changed significantly throughout time—people still need shelter, food, security, entertainment and the ability to grow as individuals—what has changed is how they expect those needs to be met. The most liveable cities are those which have been able to adapt to the changing world around them. Cities provide a dialogue between diverse stakeholders that influence our living, through constructive, coordinated and long-term information exchange.
Homes for Tomorrow takes one of the greatest challenges of our time: housing, created through the process of social dialogues. It presents new negotiation processes, where common subjects reach agreements, in the form of reflection and action feeding directly from the current «status quo».
The 13th CANactions International Architecture Festival aims to discuss and question the general principles of living environments which set the direction for establishing new housing typologies as well as, reflect the ideas of its residents about the quality and the benefits of life in the city.
