Architecture Week 2020, ‘from home’ edition
The 2020 edition of Architecture Week has been adapted to a virtual format and invites us to open a new window to delve into the world of architecture without having to leave home.
Architecture Week will offer a selection of content without anyone having to set foot outside, from 7 to 17 May: streaming talks and meetings, debates, virtual tours of various spaces in the city and other content created from the new frontiers this situation has been creating.
This year’s edition is using the city’s coastal area as a guest space, through which it will be inviting us to take part in a collective reflection on the city by the sea, the great coastal and port spaces and the opportunities for change and conflict that take shape there. On top of that, there is another, unexpected protagonist that had not been in demand until now: domestic spaces, so present and visible in our lives over the last few weeks.
So, we are opening a window to collective reflection on the architecture that makes up the city today, where physical limits are compelling us to rethink the spaces that surround us. A big welcome to Architecture Week 2020!
Architecture Week is being promoted by Barcelona City Council, the Catalan Architects’ Association (COAC) and the Mies van der Rohe Foundation, in collaboration with Barcelona Building Construmat and ARQUIN-FAD.
This fourth edition, in a new ‘from home’ format, will consist of a week packed with activities relating to the world of architecture and the city, beyond physical, disciplinary and territorial boundaries, aimed at inviting reflection on built environments in cities and their value through the sharing of architectural activities, knowledge, experience and debate.
