In this online event, the editors of ‘Queer Spaces’ will explore the past and present life of LGBTQIA+ spaces from around the word – and their worthy place in history.
“Queer people have always found ways to exist and be together, and there will always be a need for queer spaces.”
During LGBTQ+ History Month 2023, the editors of ‘Queer Spaces’ will join us to explore historic, contemporary and speculative LGBTQIA+ spaces from around the world.
‘Queer Spaces’ is an atlas of 90 examples of LGBTQIA+ spaces, recognising their past and present life as strong, vibrant, vigorous, and worthy of their own place in history.
In this interactive online Inclusive Spaces event, we will examine projects featured in the publication, and discuss and reflect on the process of working with a community of contributors to research and uncover stories of LGBTQIA+ spaces.
Among others, ‘Queer Spaces’ includes contributions by researchers from The Bartlett, UCL’s Faculty of the Built Environment, ranging from the educational to the institutional to the re-appropriated.
