This official degree prepares architects, urban planners and other professionals to develop and rebuild communities affected by the ever-growing impact of climate change, military conflicts, rapid urbanization and economic crises in both developed and developing countries. The one-year program provides students with the necessary theoretical and methodological background in order to develop an interdisciplinary approach and manage projects in cooperation and sustainable development ranging from the urban to the architectural scale.

Wide range of job opportunities
This master course prepares both professionals and academics to critically intervene in the context of international cooperation and urban development. A mandatory internship period provides students with the connections and experience needed to secure positions in institutions like international cooperation agencies, municipal planning offices, research institutes and consultancy firms that deal with international cooperation, post-disaster and post-conflict contexts, foreign aid, human settlements, slum improvement and infrastructure development, among other areas. The master provides immediate access to PhD programs in Europe after approving the 60 ECTS due to its official accreditation.

Register online


E-mail the following documents to the student’s portal:
– Photocopy of your passport
– 1 passport-size photo
– Certified* copy of your Diploma**
– Certified* copy of your Academic Transcript
– A signed copy of the UIC Barcelona general conditions (find attached to the confirmation e-mail you receive after registering online)
– A signed copy of the UIC Barcelona data protection form (find attached to the confirmation e-mail you receive after registering online)
– A filled in and signed copy of the grant survey referring to any external grants/financial aid for which you may have applied
– Motivation letter (please include your Skype username in your signature)
– Portfolio + CV (format, content and length up to the student)
– Certificate of English language level (minimum B2)
– Recommendation letters (optional)
– Other certificates, diplomas or proof of work experience (optional)
* Document must have an official stamp from your university

** If you do not yet have your Diploma, please submit the proof of payment of the diploma issuance fees or a document from your university certifying your expected date of graduation.

Skype interviews with preselected candidates: 11 – 13 January 2021* (Only if required)
Communication of results: 15 January 2021
Deadline to reserve a place: 29 January 2021
*Due to the Christmas holidays, the period between the deadline for submitting documents and the interviews is longer than in the rest of application periods



Second call for applications


Deadline for submitting documents: 5 March 2021
Skype interviews with preselected candidates: 8 – 10 March 2021 (Only if required)
Communication of results: 15 March 2021
Deadline to reserve a place: 29 March 2021


Third call for applications


Deadline for submitting documents: 7 May 2021
Skype interviews with preselected candidates: 10 – 12 May 2021 (Only if required)
Communication of results: 17 May 2021
Deadline to reserve a place: 31 May 2021
*Note: Skype interviews are made on a needs basis only. The purpose they serve is to clarify any questions regarding candidate’s CV or cover letter, at the discretion of the Master’s Team. Not all admitted students will be required to do an interview.


*Following each step, the applicants will be notified if they have been:

a) Accepted: You will receive your acceptance letter along with instructions on how to pay the deposit and reserve a place. Acceptance will only be confirmed upon payment.

b) Placed on a waiting list: Your application will be reviewed again during the next call.

c) Not accepted


Documents submission must be complete in order to include the applicant in each admission call. If some documents are missing, your application will be kept until completed and reviewed during the next admission call.


Accepted Students
– Reserve a place: Pay the deposit (20% of the total fee) via international transfer
– Legalise academic documents: Ask your programme advisor about specific instructions and procedures
– Enrollment fee: Pay the remaining amount (80% of the total fee) via international transfer
– Enrollment date: 9 July 2021
– Deadline to pay the enrollment fee: 23 July 2021
– Submit paper copies of your legalised academic documents upon arrival in Barcelona
