The MBArch or Master’s Degree in Advanced Studies in Architecture-Barcelona is a postgraduate program (60 to 90 credits) that focuses on the contemporary architectural and urban project. It combines a set of programs with extensive experience that our university offered previously and that had a high level of international recognition, in a new integrated master.
It offers eight lines of specialization: «Urban Management and Valuation», «Urbanism», «Project, Process and Programming», «Theory, History and Culture», «Technological Innovation in Architecture», «Architecture, Energy and Environment», «Architectural Renovation and Conservation» and «Contemporary Project» (this last line entirely taught in English), all of which are taught by renowned professors and architects, one of the most significant aspects of the MBArch is its transversal organization, a unique aspect within of the current postgraduate programs within our academic field, which offers some flexibility to our students to enrich their itineraries within the graduate course, adapting better to their individual interests in research and professional practice.

The Master’s Degree in Advanced Studies in Architecture-Barcelona (MBArch) is an official postgraduate program (60 to 90 credits), which focuses on the contemporary architectural and urban design. The MBArch combines in a new integrated master a selection of specialized masters previously offered by the ETSAB that used to enjoy a high level of recognition.
This result is characterized by the creation of eight specialisations:
-Urban management and valuation
-Urbanism
-Project. Process and programming
-Theory, history and culture
-Architecture, energy and environment
-Technological innovation in architecture
-Rehabilitation and architectural restoration
-Contemporary project (entirely taught in English).
Prestigious architects and professors taught all these research areas. One of the most significant aspects of the MBArch is its transversal organization, which is a unique aspect of this Master in comparison to the different postgraduate programs of the current supply in our academic field. This feature provides a flexibility that gives the opportunity of studying in different ways using multiple itineraries inside the post graduate courses. In this way, students can have a better matching to their research and professional interests.
The MBArch is one year long (60 credits), and is structured in a common phase, with three subjects; another one of specialization, in which you can choose from a wide offer of each line other six subjects, and a seminar of preparation of the final work. You can choose to obtain a double major with a greater number of electives (90 credits).
Admission profile
Access qualifications:
Architectural Studies Degree by the UPC or Architecture Degree by the UPC (2010) and equivalent degrees, as well as studies in civil engineering or building construction
Studies of architecture, civil engineering or building construction or similar obtained outside Spain. The Master’s Academic Committee will check if the competences detailed above are fulfilled and, exceptionally and in a case-by-case basis, may establish the necessity to pass specific additional training in the Degree of Architecture and/or the Master’s Degree in Architecture, which in any case may exceed 15 ECTS. Passing this additional training will be necessary condition to access the Master’s degree in Advanced Studies in Architecture-Barcelona
Exceptionally, university studies in the fields of geography, economy or history of art. In all of them the Master’s Academic Committee will assess the suitability of the candidacy and the exposition of its motivation and will establish the specific additional training that the student should pass in the Degree of Architecture and/or the Master’s Degree in Architecture, which in any case may exceed 15 ECTS. Passing this additional training will be a necessary condition to access the Master’s degree in Architecture-Barcelona.
The graduates from educational systems outside the European Higher Education Area must certify, if required, that their degrees have a level of training equivalent to the corresponding Spanish university degrees and which authorizes access to postgraduate studies in the issuing country.

The candidate must upload at the pre-enrolment site at least this documentation:
-Degree of the studies that give access to the Master, and transcript of records (except the graduates by the UPC).

-B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages or equivalent (Spanish and/or English depending on the courses to be enrolled in)
Students who are admitted, will have to present the originals of the degree and the official transcrip of records, during the enrolment (except for graduates and graduates by the UPC).
